A trendy multi-purpose business complex
In the center of Almelo stands the monumental Twenthe Centrum, which was formerly home to the Twenthe steam spinning mill. The building dates back to 1915 and is one of the first examples of concrete frame construction. The former spinning mill serves as a reminder of Almelo’s significant textile history. This beautiful building was completely renovated in 2012 in a remarkable way and now houses a high-quality business, office, and medical center. In close collaboration with Monument Care, the facades were restored, taking into account the quality and appearance of the original building.
The original “Twenthe Centrum” was built as a textile factory and was constructed in several phases between 1915 and 1940. The design is consistently executed in the same style and detailing, with a concrete construction frame filled with brickwork in the facades and large steel frames and doors with plenty of glass. In 1997, the building was designated as a national monument due to its historical and architectural value. In 2012, the building underwent redevelopment into a multi-tenant office building. It features two main entrances on the ground floor, each with double sliding doors. The main entrance leads to an entrance area, which leads to common areas that connect the different parts of the building. There are two main stairwells at both ends of the building near the main entrance, in addition to several internal emergency stairwells. The common areas also contain three elevators, one of which specifically provides access to the office spaces on the third floor. The building has facilities such as sanitary rooms in the common areas, including an accessible toilet. The building currently has several office units available for rent on the ground floor and first floor.
